While driving on NH4 towards Tumkur, you will see lot of hills on 2 sides of the road. One is Channarayana Durga., This is one of hill top durga among the others. This fort on hill is built by Chikkappa Gowda who was palegara (The Local King) during the 17th Century, a feudal lord from Madhugiri.

Makalidurga Hill
The name of small hill, situated in village with same name as makalidurga. The makalidurga is located 50 to 60 km away from Bangalore. 10 km from doddballapura.
Nijagala Betta
The Nijagal fort was built at the tip of the rocky mountain. Nijagal resembled an enormous, rocky semicircle placed atop a mountain decked on all directions with gigantic, steep, slippery boulders, effectively sealing it off from any sort of assault.

Named Savandurga by Immadi Kempe Gauda, this hill fortress was believed to be unconquerable until the British took over in 1791; Lord Cornwallis has written a detailed account about its capture.
Shivagange Trek
Shivagange is located at just ~60 KM from Bangalore and ~20 KM from Tumkur. With altitude of 2640.3 feet, the summit is having the Lord Shiva temple. It is also called as Dakshina Kashi (A Kashi of South).
