About The place
Tucked away in the misty folds of the Western Ghats, Kuduremukha (also spelled Kudremukh) is a stunning blend of natural beauty, biodiversity, and tranquility. Located in the Chikkamagaluru district of Karnataka, this mountain range derives its name from its unique shape — Kudure means “horse” and mukha means “face” in Kannada, as the peak resembles the face of a horse.
With its rolling green hills and grassy meadows that stretch as far as the eye can see, Kuduremukha is part of one of the largest protected forest regions in the Western Ghats. It is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, earning it the nickname Paradise for Nature Lovers.
The trek to the summit is a favorite among adventure seekers. Stretching roughly 9 kilometers one way, the trail meanders through dense forest paths, open grasslands, and gurgling streams, offering breathtaking views at every turn. Trekking through clouds and along natural river flows makes the journey unforgettable — a true “WOW” experience.
Historical and Natural Significance:
Kuduremukha is not only known for its scenic beauty and trekking trails but also holds hydrological importance. It is the birthplace of several major rivers, including the Tunga, Bhadra, and Netravati. Nearby, the Hanuman Gundi Falls is a popular attraction where visitors can enjoy the soothing sights and sounds of cascading water amidst dense, lush greenery.
